Miss Face Signature 2018/19

Miss Face Signature 2018/19 was a Beauty pageant for a Cosmetic and Fragrance brand "Miss Signature" which I had taken part in, this required me to travel to South Africa. This one one of the main highlights of my 2018. It was a wonderful experience, something I will forever cherish. I met these stunning ladies and made many friends along the way. This trip taught me a lot about make up, modeling and it also made me a very confident individual, I participated in activities which were completely out of my comfort zone but I feel like that is what made it more interesting and fun.

How did i find out about this program?

Instagram is my answer to this question. It was just another one of those days where I had nothing to do and I was scrolling through my Instagram repetitively, when I came across one of their adds which mentioned a beauty pageant. This really caught my attention and so I googled it up to find out more about it, this lead me to the entry requirements page, as I read the entry requirements I felt fit to participate in it and I thought to myself "Why not give it a shot?" I asked my parents if it was fine, and they said it was alright. I then filled in the application form and submitted it. I never really expected anything because this was a competition among 4 African countries ( Botswana, Namibia, South Africa and Mozambique) so I never really thought I'd make it. During the first week of November, I received an email from them telling me I was selected in the Top 100. This was a complete shock to me as I honestly wasn't expecting to hear back from them. I read the email and followed all the instructions that were needed to be followed for me to qualify for the next round. Thanks to my all my social media followers, friends and family who voted and gave me an incredible amount of support which helped me make it to the next round where they selected to the Top 10. When I received the email for the Top 10 selection, I was blown away. I had no idea that I would make it this far. A set of instructions were then given to us, followed by us travelling to South Africa.

DAY 1

Prior to this, 2 other girls and I had flown into South Africa a night before all the other contestants arrived, so we had an earlier start to this program. I met 2 lovely ladies, 1 from the neighboring towns and the other from Namibia. We met at our hotel and had dinner together, it was amazing to get to know them and their different lifestyles, backgrounds and stories.

The next morning we went to pick up all the other girls from the airport. I was lucky enough to have become close to 2 girls from KZN before the whole program, so when they got onto the bus and I finally got to meet them, we went crazy as we were so excited to finally be with each other.

Following the pick up, we headed for our dress fittings in Rustenburg. The bus ride there was slightly awkward since everyone was still getting to know each other. It took us about an hour and a half to get there, and by the time we got there we were all extremely sweaty and we had bonded so much it felt like we were friends from a very long time ago.

As the bus stopped at our destination we all got down and walked into the place, all of us holding a pair of heels in our hands. When we entered we were told to sit down, after everyone was seated we were told about the fitting process. We were then taken into a room filled with formal evening wear, I was shook when I saw all the stunning evening wear. We were then each handed a dress which we had to try on. Some girls found the perfect dress in their first go whilst others had to try on multiple dresses. My dress was a dark purple off shoulder dress with a corset. I absolutely LOVED it.

After everyone had their dresses picked out, we headed to the mall where our event would take place and went to Cross Trainers and Mr Price to fit our sports look and casual wear.

for my sports look (Sponsored by Cross Trainer) I wore a neon pink kappa dress paired with white classic Adidas superstars and my hair done in a regular ponytail.

This look was followed by our final fitting of the day, which was our casual look (Sponsored by Mr Price) I wore an all black jumpsuit with a little bit of net along with a floral kimono paired with a pair of Aldo high heels with my hair up in a ponytail.

Day 2

The main event for our second day was our presentations. Our presentations were about charity work and our experiences with our projects and what type of projects we did. That was followed by an amazing lunch and a couple of group activities in which we got to know so much more about one another.

Day 3

The main event of our third day was a makeup work shop, where we were taught so much about how to apply makeup and various techniques. This completely changed my makeup routine as I realized where I was going wrong, and it was just all the tiny differences and little steps that i initially used to skip which made a HUGE difference in my makeup application. The workshop was followed by an activity where you and a partner had ten minutes to do a full face of makeup on each other, not even one more minute then ten minutes. My partner won the challenge so since she did the look on me we wont the best look created in ten minutes. This was a very fun yet stressful challenge.

Day 4

Our main event on our fourth day was photo shoots. We took many pictures. We took pictures with all our sponsors as well as group pictures, pictures of us in swimwear, individual personal picture and last but not least pictures with the crown. Following that we went to have frozen yogurt and manicures and pedicure, thanks to our wonderful sponsors.

Showtime

Our last day was the day of the event. We got there early in the morning and had our makeup done by professional makeup artists, we then got dressed and were ready to rock the stage. We performed our sequences as the crowd went wild. Overall it was a surreal experience, and on that I will never forget.

One thing I would like to say to my readers would be, its okay to get out of your comfort zone and do things you wouldn't normally do, it really boosts your confidence and makes you a stronger individual. I am so grateful that I got this wonderful opportunity. This brings me to the end of my Miss Signature 2018/19 experience. I hope you enjoyed reading this. I would love to know your thoughts and opinions. Feel free to talk to me on any of my social media platforms listed on my website.

Stay tuned till next time.
