Oreo Truffles are my all time FAVORITE dessert.
I have a quick and easy method to make these. I hope you enjoy eating and making them as much as I do.
Ingredients
1 block of cream cheese. (8 ounces). If you do not have cream cheese a good substitute is buttercream or frosting, both of which can be made at home with ingredients that are generally available in ones pantry. ( make sure to chill the buttercream / frosting for 20 mins before use)
Oreo cookies with flavor of desire. I personally use the Original Oreo cookies and sometimes for a change the ones with the chocolate filling. you will need about 32 Oreo's (2 boxes).
Semi sweet cooking chocolate or chocolate of your choice. I use the Lindt dark chocolate and the Cadbury white chocolate. (4 ounces)
Instructions
Crush the Oreo cookies either in a zip-lock bag and then use a rolling pin to crush them, or put them in a blender and crush them (don't make them too fine).
Mix the cream cheese (or its substitute) with the cookie crumbs until well mixed.
Shape them into round spheres, using your palms (apply vegetable oil or butter to your palms to make the process easier)
Melt your chocolate using a microwave. When using a microwave make sure to heat your chocolate in 1 minute intervals to prevent burning the chocolate. An alternative method to this would be to use a double boiler this ensure that the chocolate will not burn, but bare in mind this is a lengthy process.
Dip the truffles into the melted chocolate and place into a tray lined with wax paper or parchment paper.
Refrigerate for 1 hour until they become firm. If you want to store them place them in a tightly covered container
